This was my first project… to design and build a tube based microphone preamplifier. It was a great learning experience on so many levels, and my first foray into metal work and fabrication. The 1/8″ steel front panel was etched with Ferric Chloride.

All of the parts are new except for the meter, the knobs, and the Daven attenuator.

It sports a Jensen input transformer, a Lundahl output transformer, and uses Hammonds for the choke and power transformer. The tube compliment consists of one 12AX7 and one 12AU7. It produces enough gain to used with my RCA 44BX.
